PDFayra Privacy Notice

Last updated: September 2026

Who we are

MOK Software S.L. is an independent software engineering consultancy registered in Spain, and the developer of PDFayra. For any question about this notice or your personal data, contact us at support@moksoftware.es. MOK Software S.L. acts as the data controller for the personal data described below.

What data we collect

PDFayra is a PDF reader, scanner, and editor. Every document you scan, open, or create — and any text extracted from it — is stored only on your own device; none of it is ever sent to us or to any other party. The camera permission is used solely to let you scan documents. Text extraction (OCR) runs entirely on your device, using Google's on-device ML Kit library — no image or text ever leaves your phone for this. PDFayra has no user accounts and never sends your documents anywhere. The free version does show ads and offers an in-app purchase to remove them, each of which involves its own, separate data described below.

Advertising

The free version of PDFayra shows ads served by Google AdMob. To show and measure ads, AdMob and its advertising partners may collect technical data such as your device's advertising identifier (Apple's IDFA, only if you grant tracking permission when asked, or Android's Advertising ID), general device information, approximate location (such as country), and which ads you saw or tapped. This data is separate from your documents and is handled directly by Google and its partners, not by us. In the EU, UK, and similar jurisdictions, a consent screen shown on first launch lets you choose whether to allow personalized advertising; declining still shows ads, just less tailored to you. You can review Google's advertising partners and privacy practices at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

In-app purchases

PDFayra offers an optional, one-time purchase ("Pro") that removes ads. Purchases are handled by Apple's App Store or Google Play directly — we never see your payment details. To confirm and remember that you've unlocked Pro, we use RevenueCat, a third-party subscription-management service, which receives an anonymous device/purchase identifier and receipt data from the app store — not your name, email, or documents.

Why we use it and our legal basis

We have no legal basis to state for processing your documents, because we never receive them. Camera access is granted directly through your device's own operating-system permission, only for the scanning feature you choose to use. Non-personalized advertising is shown on the basis of our legitimate interest in keeping the free version sustainable; personalized advertising is shown only with your consent, given or withheld through the consent screen described above. Processing your Pro purchase through RevenueCat is necessary to fulfil the purchase you requested.

How long we keep it

Your documents remain on your device for as long as you keep them there. Deleting a file within the app (or through your device's file manager) removes it completely; we have no copy to retain or restore, since we never receive one. On Android, the app also keeps its own automatic backup copy of each document in your device's Downloads folder, so it survives an accidental uninstall — this, too, stays on your device. Advertising and purchase-verification data described above is retained by Google and RevenueCat under their own retention policies, not ours.

Sharing

We do not sell, share, or transmit your documents or their contents to any third party. The on-device libraries PDFayra uses (including Google's ML Kit for OCR) do not send document content anywhere. The two exceptions, described above, are Google AdMob (to show and measure ads) and RevenueCat (to verify your Pro purchase) — neither of which ever receives your documents.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, to object to or restrict its processing, and to data portability. Since PDFayra itself sends us nothing to act on, most of these rights concern the data on your own device, which you already fully control. For any other question, email us at support@moksoftware.es. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Spanish data protection authority (Agencia Española de Protección de Datos, aepd.es).
